The Israelis have done a great job at distributing vaccines but they really suck when it comes to elections. I suppose that's what happens when you have 39 parties vying for 120 Knesset seats and an election threshold of only 3.25%
Our two party system may suck but 39 parties is ridiculous especially when 13 parties actually won seats.
Likud leads with 30 seats which is only half of what's required for a majority. Blue and White, the big challenger the last time around, slipped to only 8 seats. The centrist Yesh Atid came in second with 17 seats.
The Likud alliance garnered only 52 seats. The main opposition alliance managed 57 seats so both are short of the necessary majority.
This is the fourth election in two years. They seriously might want to consider raising the election threshold. If it was 5% then 22 more seats would have been distributed among the major parties. But that won't help right now.
So, let the negotiations begin.
