Trump's Legacy

Yes, Trump has a legacy and we should put up a statue somewhere to remind ourselves of it. I'm not sure what the statue should be. Perhaps a lame jackass would work?

He lied about the pandemic which got 500,000 people killed.

He destroyed our prestige around the world which will probably get more people killed.

He lied almost every time he opened his mouth including scamming his own supporters with pre-checked monthly (or even weekly) donation boxes.

He exited the Iran nuclear treaty and replaced it with nothing which left our allies out to dry.

He exited the Paris accords when he could have simply modified the voluntary objectives the country signed up to thus leaving us with no seat at the table in discussing climate change. That’s an abdication of leadership

He cooed and fawned over Kim Jong-Un who is very possibly the worst dictator in the world.

He failed to provide everything he promised including improved healthcare and a border wall that Mexico was going to pay for.

He called our war dead losers and suckers.

He expressed contempt for the war record of John McCain who is a man Trump is not fit to lick the boots of.

He called the white supremacists at the rally in Charlotte “very fine people” or at least that there were “very fine people” on both sides of the racism debate.

He did manage a tax cut which benefitted billionaires while giving crumbs to everyone else. I’m still waiting for the 5% growth he said that this would introduce. Instead we got massive budget deficits and increase in debt.

He’s still lying about losing the 2020 election.

Yet I still see big Trump signs around. These people are confusing policies with men. There are much more ethical people who would promote policies conservatives think are a good idea. The only policy that Trump believes in is doing good for Trump.

That's a significant drop in New Jersey as well. The test numbers haven't been updated since Saturday so they're a bit less than 5.6%. If it's under 5% that would be really good news.

That's a 25% drop in Bergen county. Let's hop things keep going this way.

New York is crazy. They sent my daughter a letter asking her to verify her address. If her address wasn't correct, how would she get the latter? Even crazier on the back it said if you don't respond they'll process her return based upon the information they have. So she ignored them.

My mouth is better but the guy with the knife is still jabbing the top of my mouth on occasion. My dentist made some adjustments to the bite and that helped a bit. The discoloration is mostly gone. I get to see the surgical guy Thursday and maybe he can help. I also want to go back to working out. I can feel the flab forming.

The Derek Chauvin Verdict

I wasn't sure whether to call this the Derek Chauvin verdict of the George Floyd verdict.

Regardless, Derek Chauvin, the Minneapolis police officer responsible for the death of George Floyd has been found guilty on all three counts. Those counts were 2nd degree murder, 3rd degree murder and 2nd degree manslaughter.

It took the jury only about 10 hours to reach its verdict and they asked no clarifying questions during deliberation. The speed of the verdict plus the lack of questions made it pretty obvious that Chauvin was in big trouble.

Sentencing will take place in a few weeks.

I agree with the verdict but I don't agree with the threat of violence that was hovering over Minneapolis and other cities while people were waiting for the verdict.

Either we live by the rule of law or we live by the mob. Personally I prefer the rule of law.

That's another bump up. The website I use has the weirdest bug. They're missing the numbers for the previous day. So, for example, today there's no April 18. It goes directly from April 17 to April 19 so I'm using the seven day average for the missing day.

Bergen County had a decent drop and for the first time in a while came in under 2,000 cases.

My oldest daughter's taxes are done, she got her second shot and I had my surgery last Friday.

My mouth is a mess. They couldn't get the temporary appliance in place and I was there for seven fucking hours. Even three days later I look, and feel, like someone beat me up. I'm black and blue all around my mouth, still oozing the occasional bit of blood and the top of my feels like someone keeps jabbing it with a knife. My dentist wants me to come in Wednesday do he can do a routine check.

Bergen County had a decent drop as well. Let's hope this keeps up.

My oldest daughter's taxes still aren't done because, apparently, New York still hasn't made up its mind on how unemployment is to be handled. I got my hair cut Tuesday. It's now pretty short. I look adorable. My oldest daughter goes for her second shot Tuesday. Middle daughter's hubby got his first shot Saturday. We're getting there. Friday is the day they get to play territory on my mouth. He says they're going to give me a long acting Novocain which should last for two days. I wonder how I'm going to eat of drink anything?

What is Cancel Culture?

Conservatives love to talk about "Cancel Culture" and with good reason. It's an argument that they can actually win.

To me "Cancel Culture" is a bunch of professional victims that want to tell me what historical figures I can admire, what books I can read and what language I can hear.

I'd prefer to decide for myself thank you very much.

Yes, the right is exaggerating what's going on but "Cancel Culture" warriors are treading down a dangerous path when they take the position that anyone who dares disagree with them is by definition racist, misogynist, transphobia or whatever.

My taxes are done. The checks have been cashed. Still waiting on my oldest daughter's return. I think I'll give them a call tomorrow. I need a haircut. I look like a crazed concert pianist and I can't even play the piano. It's been over a year and all I've had is my daughter clipped the back a bit.
