The Corona Virus April 26, 2020

There are currently 986,917 reported case in the US and 55,482 deaths.

New York has 293,696 cases and 22,365 deaths
New Jersey has 109,038 cases and 5,938 deaths
Massachusetts has 54,938 cases and 2,899 deaths
Illinois has 49,903 and 1,933 deaths
California has 45,558 cases and 1,725 deaths

If you trace from week to week the numbers look like this.

April 12 - April 19 -- 202,739 new cases and 18,402 deaths
April 19 - April 26 -- 224,318 new cases and 15,007 deaths

These aren't exact because the snapshots may from different times but it does seem to indicate a slight slowing down in the rate of new cases if not in the actual numbers.

A number of GOP led states including Georgia and Texas are preparing to reopen the economy in the next week or so. I hope things work out but we shall see.

In the meantime the moron in the White House actually suggested, on national TV, that doctors should look into injecting disinfectant into the lungs of people sick with the virus. I mean, what the fuck, if it works on counter tops then why not in someone's lungs?

The really terrifying part is that everyone from the FDA to the manufacturers of Lysol felt it necessary to issue frantic warnings against trying something that stupid.

My tooth issue got really bad. It was so bad I couldn't sleep and I was forced to call my dentist. He spent a while nailing down my symptoms and then gave me an antibiotic. The pain is abating but I just hope it doesn't return when I'm finished with the antibiotic.

He also spent a good ten minutes telling me not to go out but to stay put until things get more resolved.
