Well, the dust has settled and the electoral votes have been counted. Trump is still contesting the election and claiming the evidence is on his side but promises a peaceful transition.
Maybe the man really is delusional and not just narcissistic.
Many people are still calling for Pence to invoke the 25th Amendment and I agree with them but I doubt it's going to happen.
Four people are dead after yesterday's chaos and over fifty have been arrested. One woman was shot by police as she tried to force her way into a close off area and three died from undisclosed "medical emergencies."
What appalled me the most about yesterday was Republican representatives and senators repeating the same debunked nonsense about election fraud and the violation of state laws even after the chaos in the capitol.
Whatever happened to the Republican support for federalism?
When did congressional morons get the right to override state sanctioned election results?
Yes, I know what 3 US Code Chapter 1 § 15 says but it was intended to resolve conflicts between say the legislature and the governor or catch a highly abnormal situation where the state certification is uncertain. Neither of these were the case in 2020.
The Republican representatives and Senators that objected to the votes should be expelled. I know it won't happen but I can dream.
